Regular Season Round 7: Istanbul - Tolka Rovers 46-51

IrishRovers can celebrate finally their first win this season after three consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Turkish Istanbul (1-3) 51-46 on Sunday. Tolka Rovers took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Istanbul won third quarter 17-9 . However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Tolka Rovers won last quarter 14-10 . They held Istanbul to an opponent 24.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 37.9 percent accuracy of the winners. Rovers forced 24 Istanbul turnovers and outrebounded them 50-37 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Jacob Byrne who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Sean Nathan chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Ali Ceyisakar produced 4 points and 12 rebounds and Can Vural added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Rovers . Istanbul's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Tolka Rovers left bottom position moving up to 47th place, which they share with 9 other teams including defeated Istanbul . It was Istanbul 's third loss in a row.
